It sat dormant for nearly 3 years in Sonos Labs while it remained more or less non functional for the vast majority of users (just search the Plex forums and you'll see what I mean). Just look at how many years it took them to make the Plex plugin for Sonos functional. They know Plex and their long history of neglecting vast portions of their own service. It's very likely that there are multiple reasons why BlueSound has not implemented the Plex service:ġ. Yes, it's very simple and straight forward for me to implement their API in my own personal app, but for commercial purposes BlueSound needs to reach out to Plex and request that they support a plugin for their BluOS ecosystem. The main thing everyone needs to know is that Plex does not have an open/public API. When a company doesn't respond to their customers, support forums like this tend to gravitate to the extremes. You need to either pull you finger out on software development, or make the strategic decision that UI integration with partners such as Roon and Plex is the future and concentrate on the hardware and a great API (though there absolutely should NOT be a ongoing cost burden to customers to have a decent software interface like Roon). It would be hard for me to recommend anyone to commit to the Bluesound ecosystem now - at least unless they were also prepared to pay the significant ongoing annual price of a Roon subscription. * and if you think that BluOS does integrate local libraries and online music services, then I'd suggest you don't understand the problem that users are trying to solve.Īs a Bluesound system owner there has been no sign over the last 5 years that you are keeping up on the software/UI front which is really disappointing. Plex would be a great (and cheaper) alternative if it could manage Bluesound hardware. But at least Roon looks great and does a halfway decent job of integrating* my local digital library with a lossless online service (TIDAL). Since Plex integration appears to be off the table, I have moved to Roon - which is galling because it is expensive, and I resent having to pay for a decent software interface given the premium cost of Bluesound hardware. I think it is less about Plex integration, and more about the failings of the BluOS user interface. Bluesound, I really beg that you take the feedback in this (now very aged) thread seriously.
